Our Story

About Casa Arvona

A century-old Portuguese villa, lovingly restored to share with those who seek the extraordinary.

Portuguese Roots

Born in Lisbon,
raised in Goa.

The story of Casa Arvona begins not in Goa, but in a narrow Lisbon street in the 1880s, where a young spice trader named António dreamed of building something permanent in the land that had given him his fortune.

He chose Assagao — a village of red laterite roads, cashew groves, and sea breeze — and built a villa that was equal parts home, statement, and love letter to two cultures. Over 130 years later, that love letter is yours to read.

Our Philosophy

Hospitality as
an art form.

We believe a great stay changes something in you. Not the kind of change that comes from luxury amenities — but from the slower, deeper kind that comes from being somewhere truly alive with history and warmth.

Preservation over Renovation

We restore, not rebuild. Every crack in the plaster, every weathered tile, every creaking floorboard is part of the story. We preserve what took a century to create.

Intimacy by Design

Ten rooms is not a limitation — it is a promise. You will never feel like a number here. Your preferences, your rhythms, your comfort — we learn them by your second morning.

Goa, Authentically

We serve Goan chouriço, not continental sausages. We brew filter coffee, not capsule espresso. Goa is in every detail — its food, its light, its unhurried pace.

Sustainability as Heritage

The original builders of this villa lived in harmony with the land. We continue that tradition — rainwater harvesting, organic kitchen gardens, and solar-heated water.

“We did not build a hotel. We opened our home — and asked the world to come stay.”
